To See:
After researching this fountain I found out that i is made "using an environmentally-conscious production process and has been built from recyclable or reusable cork, wood and metal. The surface covering is made from a non-toxic acrylic and cement composite that can be used for sculpting or casting. It avoids the use of large quantities of non-recyclable materials and harmful substances often found in the production of exhibitions and installations"
His paintings were very interesting to me. At one pint they do get repetitive but the colors help with choosing which one you like best. For me its the one I have put bellow. Its a nice to touch for me to know that he has done these while listening to a certain artist. That is a great experiment . I hope that he makes a series of paintings while listening to different genres of music, that would be very interesting to see.
After reading what his paintings were about I kinda liked the idea but it just wasn’t something I want to look at for a long time .
These were one of my favorite installations. The Ishi's Light is really an amazing piece .I liked the idea of curving the straight line to make it 3 dimensional. Its red in the picture but its actually blue

White Curve is the most amazing thing I have seen . The way that the shadows are all even on every side is unbelievable .I also like the idea behind it. It does look like its changing when you go move around it also the idea of hanging it at some distance away from the wall is also spot on(not my picture below, forgot to take one).
There isn’t that much to say about this because nothing grabbed my attention that much. There were some photographs but I didn’t like them. I took a picture of what seems to be pictures within pictures . It's interesting how so many different thing contribute to the ida of the artist. Since there are so many things going on you can spend more time figuring out what everything is.
There were some paintings which i looked at and didn’t pay attention that much because they were just a mess .The picture below for me is well balanced in therms of mess. It almost looks like its something but you can’t quite figure out what
There was a very interesting idea of making the canvases act like monitors and projecting the messages on them. It reminds me of the 3D building shows , where there is a projector covering the whole building and a video has been made specifically for the that building to make it look like its doing things.
Barbara Kruger I had heard of before because of her lawsuit against the NYC clothing brand SUPREME, allegedly they stole her font and the idea of writing white letters and having a red background.
Marcel Duchamp - I couldn’t find this anywhere. I got a map and I still couldn’t find it.
He made the most impact on me in terms of capturing my attention. I don't like all of his stuff but most of them were very interesting
I didn’t like his painting with texts on them . There were a few that i liked but i imagined them without the text. I kinda get why he painted them on. If they were just mountains it wouldn’t be interesting to critiques and it separates it from the other paintings.
I liked the ariel shots of LA they were so well composed and just the shapes look amazing. I also liked the film which he distorted with sand paper and a razor blade . It reminds me of Walead Beshty "Travel Pictures" . The difference is that Ed Ruscha film are distorted on purpose.
The explanation of the black bars on landscapes just ruined the pictures for me. The explanation seemed like something he wrote because he had to. Just leave the pictures with the black bars and say the truth.

The Blavatnik Building on level 3 was closed
The place made the exhibitions made them feel more authentic because the space wast painted or anything like that. Most of the e things that were there didn’t look great . Since the installations were not that good the space made it looked like they were the paintings which people keep in their basements and never put up. The environment didn’t compliment most of the instillations
There was however one installation which got emotion from me . I felt e bit of anxiety of whether or not something will happen. Im talking about the mirrors with motorised little hammers. The sound and the movement of the hammers really made me wonder if the hammer would actually touch the glass and if it broke since the space was so open where would the glass go.
To Think:
Work I Like
I liked a couple of stuff and that just shows why I don’t like certain thing i saw today
They look absolutely amazing. The Irony of filming something thats in bad conditions and then the pictures being in bad conditions is really good. The fact that its not intentional makes it more authentic.

The sculptor immediately reminded me of a Transformers character and Wall-E all in one. The description really didn’t interested me that much and i immediately interpreted the way i did .

I have had that idea myself and i have done that before. Taking a brush some oil paint and just start smudging the paint how i felt . I did that with my VICE masks . On some of them i just drew on by impulse . They didn’t come out as good as this painting but still. The picture on the left is Grant Heffner's work which for me resembles the painting on the right.
I love optical illusions and thats why i like this. There isn’t really that much to it. How much thought has gone into this is really amazing too. The circle in a square frame is really a good idea and the fact that he had to mathematical space out the stainless steel things to make the illusion work really make me feel good inside. It's the satisfaction at the end of the process.
What I Didn’t Like:
I didn’t like it because I couldn’t understand it and after reading the explanation I was even more confused. It felt like the artist made it for himself and made up the explanation. The fact what it was so big made it look like the artist was overcompensating for the lack of meaning behind it.
When i was saying that a painting looks like a mess i was referring to this one. It looks to busy and way too colourful after reading what it wants to represent I don't think it managed to do it. I don’t see any movement or feel movement. It looks Like shapes and colors and nothing more.
Which work challenged me
In my opinion is amazing. The way he lines follow each-other and the fact that there are some that stand out but still manage to look organised is just beyond me. The big Line in the middle is also a nice touch. I challenged e because i couldn't understand how he made it look 3D and all the chemical use just made it stand out to me even more. The fact that he tried making it from different mediums really makes me appreciate it more and more. He took a risk and I think it paid off. I discovered you can paint with almost anything and that if its abstract it has to be done properly to look good.
Photographers book:
I recognised Nan Golding's name and thats why i picked her book, The Other Side . I read the introduction page . The book is mainly story of people in drag and i got more context on the picture I sued for inspiration in my project(Picnic on the Esplanade). I thought that was a group of friends it turns out that are people in drag .I didn't look trough the whole book because it just didn’t catch my attention .
